ABOUT

Composer and arranger, Stéphane Gassot is a diverse musician, navigating between composition, arrangement and film music. He collaborates with various artists, both from the world of classical music and from the pop-folk scene.

Classically trained, he composes for different instrumental ensembles, with a pronounced taste for strings. This is how he writes works for solo violin, quartet, septet or string orchestra. He also creates works for piano, harpsichord, wind quintet and percussion.

As a film music composer, he has, among other things, composed the music for five feature-length documentaries for France Télévisions, Arte and PBS, as well as numerous fiction and animated short films.

Regularly sought after for his qualities as an arranger, he collaborates with artists such as Etienne Daho, Benjamin Biolay, Carla Bruni, Yael Naim, Emily Loizeau, Cocoon and Keren Ann, thus bringing a “classical” touch to their scores. He regularly collaborates with many artists and orchestras, for labels such as Universal, Sony Classical, Naïve, Apple Music and Deutsche Grammophon.

In 2023, he was a finalist in the 8th "New Music for Harpsichord" composition competition in Milan, then won a 3rd prize in the "Amadeus Composition Award" in Vienna. In 2024, he won the 14th edition of the "Respighi Prize" in New York, allowing him to be featured at Carnegie Hall for the 25-26 season, with the Chamber Orchestra of New York.

Trained at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), he won prizes for harmony, counterpoint, fugue, orchestration and film music composition. He works in particular with personalities such as Thierry Escaich, Jean-François Zygel, Isabelle Duha, Stéphane Delplace, Bruno Coulais and Laurent Petitgirard.
